Overview

The V70i fingerprint reader is one of the most capable biometric readers on the market today, with advanced features such as industry-leading memory capacity, a 500dpi sensor, 1:n capability, integrated Mifare and iClass card reader options, and US Government certified algorithms.  It is also the only modern biometric reader that is fully backward compatible with the Fingerscan V20 that was once sold globally by Identix Incorporated.  A little-known feature of the V70i is that it can be installed into a legacy biometric network as a direct replacement for a Fingerscan V20 reader.  

How Does it Work?

The PeopleKey V70i fingerprint reader runs a BioEngine® 6 algorithm by default, which is one of the world's fastest and most accurate fingerprint matching algorithms.  By default, when the V70i is plugged into a Fingerlan network with V20 readers, the V70i will automatically detect the legacy fingerprint templates on the network and convert them (on the V70i only) to the newer BioEngine 6 format. The ability to run a mixed network of legacy V20 and modern V70i readers, with no need to re-enroll users, means that customers can gradually upgrade from the older technology as needed. And it's a hassle-free process.
