Don't Gamble with Your Security

With millions of dollars changing hands at their facilities each day, casinos are major targets for theft. Many casinos go to great lengths to monitor gaming activity, but rely on card or key-based systems for access to vaults, cash boxes and other sensitive areas in their facilities. Unfortunately, cards and keys can be lost, stolen or copied, they provide no audit trail, and they do not allow for time zone-based access control.  Biometric access control systems are a better security solution for casinos because they require an individual to verify his actual identity, because access can be restricted by individual / location / time, and because the biometric system stores a comprehensive record of who accessed what, and when.

How it Works

Employees are enrolled into the biometric access system with a fingerprint, name and ID number.  This information is stored in our Fingerlan software, which runs on a secure PC or server on your network.  Next, access privileges are granted to each user or group.  This allows you to specify, for instance, that John Doe is allowed to enter door A at any time, door B on Monday through Friday, and door C only on Tuesdays between the hours of 9am and 5pm.  Fingerlan pushes the user info and access privileges out to the fingerprint readers over your secure wired or wireless network.

When an employee needs to access a secured location in the casino (or even cash boxes on the gaming machines), he steps up to the fingerprint reader, enters his PIN number (or swipes an HID card) and then touches his finger on the sensor.  The fingerprint reader verifies the identity of the employee and triggers an unlock mechanism on the door.  A time stamp is automatically saved on the fingerprint reader itself (each unit stores up to 60,000 transactions) and sent over the network to Fingerlan, where the transaction is saved in a powerful database.  This data can later be queried in order to find out who has been where, and at what time.

Why it's Secure

Biometric access control systems verify an individual's actual identity before granting access to a facility. Fingerprints cannot be lost, stolen or copied, so biometric systems are more secure than card, key or PIN-based systems alone.  Biometric systems provide a complete audit trail and the ability to restrict access according to specific criteria. PeopleKey systems use encrypted fingerprint templates, one of the most accurate fingerprint matching algorithms in the world, and our hardware comes standard with internal tamper switches to prevent forced entry by damaging the device.
